raised of a $10,000 goal
GK Folks Foundation is a nonprofit organization that deems quality education, entrepreneurship skills, and capital as the key to solving Africa’s emerging socio-economic developmental issues. Our efforts are focused on providing educational and entrepreneurial resources along with first hand opportunities to students in diaspora. Our aim is to strategically propel these students in the pursuit of their platforms, goals, education and, most importantly in their desire to give back to their respective countries.
As you all may already know, over the past six years, that is – since its inception, GK Folks Foundation has mentored and empowered over 60 African students in Utah, and Idaho through its Miss Africa Utah and Idaho scholarship program. As a high-impact nonprofit organization, these programs were specifically designed with the intention of empowering students through personal and educational growth, while simultaneously molding them into becoming innovative philanthropic leaders in their respective countries.
These cutting edge programs provide invaluable resources, and opportunities to further the education of all participating students. The impact of these programs on the lives of students and their families have been nothing short of a success. Over $10,000 have being raised and awarded in scholarships to enable these young African queens to complete their education, and begin their unique legacy in philanthropy.
In an effort to catalyze large scale systematic change, GK Folks Foundation is expanding its focus to the motherland this year. This expansion is geared at tackling a grassroot issue that challenges many countries’ innovative developments and progress on all levels. Poor access to clean water continues to stagger educational, entrepreneurial as well as socio-economic growth in the motherland. For this reason, GK Folks Foundation is proud to announce our Clean Water Project, which is expected to launch in the summer of 2017, starting in West Africa and then gradually moving to other parts of the African Continent. Currently, Agortime-Kpetoe, a small village in the Volta Region of Ghana, and Shishimpe, a community in the outskirts of Mpape town in Abuja Nigeria have been selected as our first targets.
Water, like education, and entrepreneurial skills are essential for growth. Increasing access to water, especially clean water to communities who are desperately in need of this amenity would not only aid in the provision of this basic necessity of life; instead, clean water would also help to foster an environment that thrives on good health, and a solid foundation for unprecedented growth.
Our goal is to raise $10,000. Your donations will be greatly appreciated! We hope you will consider supporting our efforts in embarking on our Clean Water project for Africa. As a model 501 (c)3 nonprofit, all donations will be tax deductible. Your donations will help GK Folks Foundation in its unwavering quests to lead and transform the system to achieve greater good.
